UCSC Summer Session Riding
« on: June 20, 2010, 08:50:23 PM »
Hey,

I'm new to the area and attending UCSC for the summer. Anyone going to be around for the summer and interested in riding - dirt or pavement??

I'll be back in SC this Tues until the end of June.  Ride mtb on Weds at about 1pm?

I'll be in town for a year and three months.  My current road schedule:

Sunday: Long (60-70 mi), Fast
Monday: Easy (10-20 mi)
Tuesday: 10-20 mi warmup, trackstand accelerations, top end speedwork (downhill/wind-assisted), 10 - 20 mi warmdown
Wednesday: Moderate (20 - 25 mi)
Thursday: 10 - 20 mi warmup, uphill intervals (30s fast/30s slow/30s fast/30s slow/30s fast/5m rest), power/threshold, 5 - 10 mi warmdown
Friday: Moderate (20 - 25 mi)
Saturday: Easy (10-20 mi)

Except for easy days, miles increase weekly.

What are you training for? Can your body handle that schedule?
Who helped you make it

Nothing in particular.

I'm already doing it with no signs of overtraining, so I guess it's fair to say I can handle it.

I helped myself make it.  I have experience as a swim coach and as a track and field sprinter - the basic stuff is all there, the hard part was figuring out the distances.

Ricardo has a good point. Beware the burnout.

I'll be there to hit dirt tomorrow at 1pm. Where are we meeting?
I want to ride my bicycle.
I want to ride it where I like.
