Bike noob
« on: August 07, 2010, 07:10:21 PM »
Hello, I'm Sophie and I'm new to this forum. I'm relatively new to riding bikes and am not at all knowledgeable about bikes at all. I just bought a trek mountain/roadbike that might be a little too big for me. I can't even tell whether I'm just trippin' or if it's actually too big. I've only starting riding bikes this year and it's super exciting I must say. If anyone wants to go riding sometime and give me some pointers that would be wayy cool. I usually only ride from and too campus and doing quick trips to the store/ beach but that's it. My first bike that I rode didn't even have gears that worked but I rode it down campus because it was just so great. And my second bike ever that I currently have rides pretty well but again might be either a man's bike or too big lol. If anyone would like to ride and show me a few pointers and areas that are great for a beginner, that would be suuper! :) Thanks for reading.  :P

Hey Sophie,

Welcome to the wonderful and addictive world of cycling. Because school is out there aren't that many people living in Santa Cruz right now so there aren't that many organized rides going down. Usually we have a team ride on Sunday that is a good way for new people to learn routes and pointers. We also have team meetings a couple times a month that would probably be beneficial to a beginner rider. All rides and meetings get posted here on the forum. You should come check us out at the OPERS festival at the beginning of the school year and sign up to come to the first meeting of the year. Any specific questions you might have you can either send me a private message or just go right ahead and ask it on the forum.

Hope that helps a little bit,

Carmi
